Who is required to take the 8-hour course?
More people than most expect. Utah requires every partner, corporate officer, bond indemnitor, and manager of a new dealership to complete the 8-hour orientation — not just the owner. Each person completes the course under their own name — $49 per person.
Does the course work on a phone, and in Spanish?
Yes. The whole course runs on your phone, and every unit exists fully in both English and Spanish, narrated in both. You can switch languages whenever you want — even in the middle of a unit — and your progress carries over.
Can I go back and review sections?
Yes — rewind or revisit any section, as many times as you want, for your full 12 months of access. The course tracks which units you've completed; when all 32 are done, your certificate is issued.
How do I get my certificate, and what do I do with it?
The moment you complete the last unit, your certificate is issued instantly — download it on the spot. You'll include it with your dealer license application on the state's MVP portal, and we keep a permanent record in case MVED ever asks to verify it.
How long do I have access to the course?
You get a full year — 12 months of access from purchase, right up until your next renewal. Come back and review any unit as many times as you want.
What's the 3-hour renewal course, and when is it available?
Licensed dealers take a 3-hour renewal course each year. Ours is
coming soon — in time for renewal season — $29, or free for DealerPronto subscribers.
Leave your email and we'll tell you the day it opens.
Is there a test at the end?
Yes — the course ends with a short final quiz to make sure the material stuck. There’s no separate state exam: Utah’s requirement is completing the full 480 minutes of instruction. Finish all 32 units and the quiz, and your certificate is issued on the spot.
Can I finish it all in one day?
Yes. It’s 8 hours of instruction — most people split it across a few evenings, but with a free day you can start in the morning and have your certificate before dinner.
Do I need anything ready before I start?
No. No documents, no dealership, no bond — just your name, an email, and a phone. Plenty of people take the course before they even pick a lot; knowing the rules first actually saves money.
When in the process should I take the course?
Any time before you apply — your certificate goes in the application packet. Our advice: take it early, in week one or two, while the slower city paperwork moves. See the full order on
